Day 1 (Wed):
Uyuni Salt Lake/Great White Desert - 4,500 square miles of surreal landscapes. The Isla Pescado in the center of the Flats is famous for its particular fauna - rodents and birds - and flora - giant cacti. Simple lodging south of the Flats. (B,L,D)
Day 2 (Thu):
Other-wordly southern altiplano landscapes; multicolored deserts & lakes, salt flats & active volcanoes, Laguna Colorada (Red Lake). Rare vegetation, vicunas, ostriches, viscachas, flamingoes; Area declared national reserve. Simple lodging. (B,L,D)
Day 3 (Fri):
Sol de Manaña region; Eerie volcanic fumes and boiling mud; Laguna Verde (Green Lake) to see water change emerald to opaque. Optional climb up Llicancahur Volcano for panoramic view. Return to Laguna Colorada. Simple lodging. (B,L,D)
Day 4 (Sat):
Return to Uyuni Salt Flats with box lunch en route. Chance for panoramic photos and walking until you disappear on the horizon. Evening return to La Paz for markets and night at Hostal Naira.(B)
Sunday morning transfer hotel to airport for international flight back to USA
