1. Riverboat Expedition: Welcome to the Mamore River, the longest tributary in the world! We go for days on end here without seeing another boat. Focus is on exploration of remote Amazon rainforests, white sand beaches, rivers, lagoons, & savannas near the Bolivia/Brazil border. Hike, fish, camp, observe wildlife, stargaze, bird watch, horseback ride, swim, relax, and be on the lookout for the next great rainforest adventure! Exact itinerary varies based on seasonal water level fluctuations and wildlife concentrations. Typical Itinerary:
Day 1 (Sat): Arrive La Paz early morning from the US; Fremen-La Paz will meet you and assist in connecting to short flight to Trinidad, Bolivia. Fremen-Trinidad will meet & drive you 16 dirt-road miles to board the Reina by lunchtime. Afternoon navigate Ibare & Mamore Rivers, bird watch, explore beaches & lagoons, nighttime caiman capture.
Day 2 (Sun): Take early morning launch to photograph dolphins & birds in lagoon, hike jungle along river edge & visit small indigenous village, Lunch onboard before afternoon horseback riding & fishing, nighttime jungle hike.
Day 3 (Mon): Beach Reina on mile-long sandbar for walks & swimming; explore rainforest footpath which leads to small (population: 3) indigenous village; Afternoon canoe ride in lagoon to spot macaws & monkeys, stargaze on beach.
Day 4 (Tue): Observe birds, caimans and capybaras on riverbanks before hiking to area of blue morpho butterflies & pottery shards near lagoon. Navigate Ibare River on our return to Trinidad, transfer to airport for quick flight to La Paz for afternoon museum, Valley of the Moon, and market visits; night at hotel.
